Isabella J says hello

Hi my name is Isabella J

We live in South Africa, a beautiful country with nine dry, very warm and beautiful provinces. The Western Cape has many different and amazing cities including our home town Cape Town. I am sure you know that Cape Town is an amazing city but most people don’t know its special qualities (they are hidden in the shadows). Cape Town has many different vineyards where lots of people get married and have big celebrations, we have lovely and hot days, when we can go to the beach- I usually go to Fish Hoek. We go to Fish Hoek because it has a shark net; over the past few years there has been numerous sharks swimming in our water, and that’s when the shark net comes in handy! We also have a beautiful mountain called Table Mountain, it sits right in the middle of the city. I am fortunate enough, that I wake up every morning and can look out my window and there it is! I play lots of tennis and I look up to my favourite players Raphael Nadel and David Ferrer, they are amazing and incredible tennis players. I enjoy drawing and sketching in art at school and in my spare time and during break. I have been to Italy and I saw amazing and beautiful things like the Sunday Markets. I also ate Gelato. My family and I went to Laskala in Milan and I could not believe I fell asleep during one of the amazing performances, we had a busy day shopping at the fashion district in Milan.

I go to Micklefield School, a lovely school in Rondebosch. We have many different activities during the day and we enjoy it. We have art, drama and cooking (where we learn to make Gelato and croissants).

Olivia K says hello

Hi my name is Olivia

I live in South Africa, overseas many people think that we live with wild animals, but actually South Africa is quite built up.  Although there are some areas that do have animals and some that have poor areas like the townships where they make their houses out of scrap metal and other litter, although the government has built a few houses for them. Cape Town is a very beautiful city with lot of plant life. Here in the Western Cape (which is the province in which Cape Town is) we have a special group of plants called Fynbos, one of the most famous Fynbos is the Protea. The King Protea is South Africa’s national plant, our national bird is a Blue Crane, our national animal is a Springbok and our national fish is Galjoen. Cape Town has a beautiful mountain called Table Mountain, we also have many beaches (although our sea is not very warm).

Micklefield is a lovely school to be at for junior school.  It gives you lots of confidence in life and you make great friends here. I have a mom, a dad and two sisters who are both older than me. My favourite colour is purple. I have two dogs who are both girls who are called Stella and Zoe and a cat called Bambie. I love seeing friends and watching movies. My favourite foods are mostly Italian but my two bests are pizza and ice cream.
